Ronnie O’Sullivan is out of the World Open after a shock defeat by Hossein Vafaei within the final 16 in China.

The world primary took the match to a deciding body with a superb break of 125 within the eighth, which levelled it at 4-4 in Yushan.

However O’Sullivan missed an important black in an exhilarating ultimate body, which allowed Vafaei again to the desk to finish a 5-4 victory.

The Iranian will play Ding Jinhui or Shaun Murphy within the final eight.

Elsewhere, 2019 World Open champion Judd Trump will tackle Kyren Wilson within the quarter-finals after his 5-3 win towards David Lilley.

Trump, the world quantity two, is aiming for his fifth title of the season earlier than subsequent month’s World Championships in Sheffield.

Stephen Maguire was unable to repeat his efficiency towards reigning world champion Luca Brecel within the earlier spherical as he misplaced 5-1 to Barry Hawkins.
