MANILA, Philippines — The native authorities of Manila has declared a liquor ban from the day earlier than the 2023 Barangay and Sangunniang Kabataang elections (BSKE) on October 29, till November 2, All Souls’ Day.
The liquor ban will lengthen after the ban imposed by the Fee on Elections for the BSKE.
In an government order launched on Thursday, Manila Mayor Maria “Honey” Lacuña declared the ban “to consider the somberness” of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

“It’s crucial to ban the sale of liquor and different alcoholic drinks in Manila Metropolis bearing in mind the somberness of those events and in mild of the opening of metropolis cemeteries to most people, not simply to Manileños,” the memorandum mentioned.

“I […] hereby order a ban on the sale and consumption of all alcoholic drinks in Manila Metropolis from 29 October 2023 as much as 02 November 2023,” Lacuña added within the memorandum.
